Drugs remain a concern in Mobile County schools: Here's what school leaders want parents to know (wkrg.com) — Mobile County school leaders say keeping drugs, especially fentanyl-laced vape pens, out of classrooms remains a serious challenge despite strict security measures like bag checks and metal detectors. After a Theodore High student was hospitalized, officials and prevention advocates are urging Mobile-area parents, grandparents, and caregivers to monitor online purchases and talk with kids about the dangers of vaping and counterfeit products.
   

2. Mobile man accused of shooting intruder; grand jury to review case (wkrg.com) — In West Mobile, a Mobile County grand jury will decide whether to charge a resident who shot and killed a man accused of breaking into his home on Calgary Drive. Police say the intruder entered through a window, and the District Attorney's Office has forwarded the case for review as neighbors and family members share differing perspectives on what happened.

Semmes takes next step toward its own school system, hiring attorney (mynbc15.com) — Semmes leaders are exploring breaking away from Mobile County Public Schools, hiring an attorney and awaiting a feasibility study after residents strongly backed a separate city system.
