King Senior Center on Lorma Road, offering meals through the City of Mobile's SAIL program. The renovated building honors longtime community advocate John E. King and will host crafts, field trips, and social activities aimed at keeping local seniors active, independent, and connected. 
2. License to Chill in Mobile: Celebrate the Living Legacy of Jimmy Buffett (mobilebaymag.com) — Mobile is gearing up for a big Jimmy Buffett celebration, with a new Son of a Son of a Sailor Experience opening September 12 at the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf. Paired with a Saenger Theatre concert, a downtown mural festival, and special Buffett-themed food tours, locals can rediscover their city while exploring Buffett's deep roots in Mobile.
3. Mobile County Public School System recognized nationally for attendance progress (wkrg.com) — Mobile County families may be seeing the results of a major push to get students back in class, as the public school system has earned national recognition for sharply reducing chronic absenteeism to 12.8%. District attendance officers now closely track data at every school, partner with agencies, and connect families with mental health and other supports to keep kids engaged.
4. Judge orders mediation in dispute involving controversial gas station proposal in Mobile (fox10tv.com) — If you care about what gets built at Broad and Government, a Mobile County judge has ordered mediation instead of immediately ruling on a disputed Murphy USA gas station proposal. The city's Architectural Review Board and the developer must meet with a mediator by mid-September, seeking a compromise that satisfies historic-district concerns around design and scale.

Alabama lawmaker seeks public input to name new I-10 Mobile River Bridge (newsradio923.com) — Mobile-area residents will soon get a say in what the new I-10 bridge over the Mobile River is called, as State Rep.
