Mobile City Council to consider $73K snowplow purchase after historic storm (utv44.com) — Mobile's City Council will vote Tuesday on buying four snowplow blades for city dump trucks, a $73,372 purchase prompted by last January's record 7.5-inch snowstorm that paralyzed local travel. Public Services leaders say the equipment would help keep key roads open during rare winter weather, potentially preventing costly shutdowns that keep residents from work, hospitals, and essential services.
   

2. Mobile restaurants partner to raise money for revitalizing blighted homes (wkrg.com) — Mobtown Burger Week is about to kick off in Mobile, with 28 local restaurants donating $3 from every burger sold to Restore Mobile's work revitalizing blighted historic homes. Running Oct. 2–11, the effort includes a Thursday evening kickoff party at Fairhope Brewing Company in Mobile and offers residents an easy way to support neighborhood renewal while enjoying local food.
   

3. Mobile man arrested, charged with interfering with emergency call (wkrg.com) — Mobile police arrested a 33-year-old man after a reported domestic incident on Dutchman Woods Drive, where a victim suffered minor injuries and was allegedly prevented from calling 911. The suspect faces charges of second-degree domestic violence–assault and interfering with a domestic violence emergency call, and the victim was treated at a local hospital.
   

4. Mobile County approves $232.9M budget, with parks and personnel costs driving growth (al.com) — Mobile County has approved a $232.9 million budget for fiscal 2027, boosting pay and health coverage for about 1,600 employees while funding new recreation facilities that many Mobile residents use. The plan supports the new aquatics center and expanded Sportsplex, and shifts the Cypress Creek Golf Course to a self-supporting enterprise fund so regular taxpayers aren't covering its operating costs.
   

5. Mobile County deputies monitoring social media activity ahead of Trump's visit (wkrg.com) — Mobile County deputies and other local agencies are closely monitoring social media and coordinating with the Secret Service ahead of President Trump's Oct. 2 rally at the Mitchell Center in Mobile. Officials stress that peaceful opinions and protests are welcome, but any online threats toward the event, law enforcement, or the public will be investigated and could be referred to federal partners.
