Investigators say the 18-year-old suspect was taken into custody in Beauregard and is being held without bail pending a hearing, while authorities continue seeking tips from anyone with information about the case.

The initiative, outlined to Opelika’s council, would train at least 50 local residents in conflict resolution, launch youth-focused ECHO curriculum programs, and build a regional “street team” to intervene before disputes escalate into shootings.
