She’s one of 16 standout educators statewide who will now compete for the top honor and potentially represent Alabama nationally as an ambassador for public education.
   

• Orange Beach Moves Forward With Hurricane Safe Room Project (obawebsite.com) — Spanish Fort is highlighted as one of the Baldwin County cities that already operate a hurricane safe room, while Orange Beach moves ahead with building a new 10,000-square-foot facility for first responders. The project, largely funded by FEMA, will centralize shelter, communications, and storm-response coordination, joining similar efforts in Foley, Fairhope, and Elberta to strengthen regional hurricane preparedness.
