Take the Mic: A Celebration of Voices in the Heart of Tuscaloosa at Ernest & Hadley Booksellers

Dust off those notebooks and tune those guitars! Ernest & Hadley Booksellers is thrilled to invite the community to its very first Open Mic Night on July 25, 2026. Hosted at the store’s historic downtown location, this event promises an evening of creative expression and literary charm.

Whether you are a seasoned storyteller, an aspiring poet, or a musician with a new tune, the stage is yours. The event is open to participants aged 18 and older, offering a supportive space for voices of all backgrounds.

"We wanted to create a platform where the community can share the stories and songs that move them," says the Ernest & Hadley team. "At Ernest & Hadley, we believe every voice deserves to be heard, and what better place to start than surrounded by the books that inspire us?"

Event Details & Performer Guidelines:

• When: July 25, 2026 5:30-8:00pm
• Where: Ernest & Hadley Booksellers, 651 20th Ave, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
• Sign-Up: Registration begins on-site 30 minutes before the show starts. Arriving early is highly encouraged to secure a performance slot.
• Set Length: Performers are allotted up to 15 minutes. 
• Atmosphere: Whether you are nervous or hit a wrong note, the focus is on having fun.
• Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy a local food truck, to browse our book selections, and to get settled for the show.
