Woman killed in hit and run crash at the intersection of Seward Highway and Benson Boulevard (alaskasnewssource.com) — A woman was killed early Saturday after being struck by a dark-colored SUV at Seward Highway and Benson Boulevard in Anchorage, and police say the driver initially left the scene. APD later located the vehicle and contacted the driver, with the Major Collision Investigation Unit now handling the case and charges still under review. 
2. Anchorage Police Department requests public's help in identifying unauthorized purchases (alaskasnewssource.com) — Anchorage police are asking residents to review bank and card statements for tap-to-pay charges during several specific date ranges from March through July, tied to an alleged fraud ring. If you spot an unauthorized transaction, APD wants you to call 3-1-1 or file an online report to help identify suspects and prevent more losses.

Rapper BigXthaPlug arrested a week before Alaska State Fair concert (alaskasnewssource.com) — Anchorage readers planning to see rapper BigXthaPlug at the Alaska State Fair should know he was arrested in Texas on Friday, but fair officials say his Aug. 30 Borealis Theatre show is still on. 4. Uncorking the secrets of a tiny bottle of volcanic ash from 34 years ago (adn.com) — An Anchorage resident recalls how the 1992 Mount Spurr eruption darkened the city and left a thin layer of ash that he and his wife saved in a tiny jar. Decades later, University of Alaska Fairbanks scientists analyze that Anchorage ash, revealing its microscopic volcanic glass and mineral makeup and explaining how explosive eruptions shatter magma into fine particles.
5.
