Anchorage Municipality's six-year bachelor's degree completion rate for Black or African American students was 19.4% by 2024 (scalaskanews.com) — For Anchorage families tracking college success, new federal data show only 19.4% of Black students who started bachelor's programs at University of Alaska Anchorage in 2018 finished within six years, below the statewide rate. The report details how many transferred, stayed enrolled, or left school, and places Anchorage's numbers in the context of persistent national racial gaps in graduation rates.
   

2. Anchorage school officials release spending plan for $32M in 'waterfall' funding (adn.com) — Anchorage School District leaders have unveiled a draft plan for spending about $14 million of the district's $32.19 million in new state "waterfall" funding, while saving the rest to ease next year's deficit. The proposal boosts tutoring, teachers, transportation, snow removal, security, and charter schools, and residents are urged to weigh in before the school board's Sept. 15 vote.

Della Keats program introduces Alaskan high schoolers to degrees and careers in healthcare University of Alaska Anchorage (alaska.edu) — A summer on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus is giving Alaska Native and American Indian high schoolers hands-on exposure to health careers through the revived Della Keats Health Sciences Program. Students from Anchorage and rural communities take pre-college classes, practice clinical skills, and explore the city, then can continue receiving support through a new UAA-based learning community.
   

5.
