• After a decade, the Chilkat king salmon sport fishery is open (chilkatvalleynews.com) — If you fish for kings around Haines, the local sport fishery reopens June 14 with generous daily limits for residents after nearly a decade of closures. Biologists say recent Chilkat River runs now meet escapement goals, though forecasts are slightly lower and managers may tighten rules mid-season if needed, especially for non-residents.
