• 9/11 anniversary essay contest in Apache Junction to award $6K in prizes - Apache Junction / Gold Canyon Independent (yourvalley.net) — Apache Junction students in grades 6–12 can compete for up to $1,500 in a new 9/11 anniversary essay contest funded by the city’s two VFW posts. Entries, focused on why learning about 9/11 matters, are due Aug. 1, with winners honored Sept. 11, 2026, at Veterans’ Memorial Park.
