• Avondale youth help plant trees for tomorrow (westvalleyview.com) — Avondale is working toward a 25% tree canopy by 2030, and local kids are already helping plant dozens of new trees in parks like Mountain View and Alamar. Backed by federal forestry funds, the Resilient Roots project is adding shade, cooling neighborhoods, and creating new habitat, with more community planting days planned for this fall. 
• Detectives still 'diligently' investigating disappearance of Isabella Comas (abc15.com) — Avondale police are still actively investigating the disappearance of 21-year-old Isabella Comas, last seen leaving a friend’s home in the city in January. Her bloodstained car was later found in Phoenix, and while a man faces charges related to the vehicle, detectives say no new charges have been filed and they’re urging anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact them.
