• Buckeye City Council OKs fiscal 2027 tax levy (westvalleyview.com) — Buckeye residents should know the City Council has approved a fiscal 2027 primary property tax levy of about $18.2 million, with final adoption set for June 16. While the total levy will rise roughly 9.2% due largely to new construction and a 2% state-allowed increase, the city’s tax rate is expected to dip slightly, though individual bills may still climb as property values grow.
   

• Board OKs student mural project planned for Sundance Park (inbuckeye.com) — Buckeye’s Community Services Advisory Board has greenlit a student-created mural to brighten the trash enclosure walls at Sundance Park. High school artists from across the West Valley will spend five weeks designing and installing the vinyl-wrapped artwork in Buckeye through the Gallery 37 program, earning college credit and a stipend for their public art contribution.
   

• Rylee Montgomery buried in Buckeye after being shot, killed (azcentral.com) — Buckeye residents are mourning 16-year-old Rylee Montgomery, who was laid to rest Thursday at Hazelton Memorial Cemetery after she was fatally shot last month at a home near Elwood Street and 257th Lane. Family and friends gathered to honor the pregnant teen’s life as the community continues to grapple with the violence that claimed her and her unborn child.
