• Verde Valley Fire District to host a hearing on budget (journalaz.com) — The Verde Valley Fire District, which serves areas stretching along SR 260 toward Camp Verde, has proposed a $19.3 million budget and will hold a public hearing June 23 in Cottonwood. The plan slightly lowers the property tax rate while boosting spending on a new station, engine maintenance, and radio upgrades, and increasing personnel costs to stay competitive with nearby departments.
