• Georgia Short Humphrey (silverbelt.com) — Family and friends of Georgia Short Humphrey are invited to a celebration of her life on Saturday, June 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gila County Fairgrounds in Globe. The longtime Miami resident leaves a large, multigenerational family who are welcoming the community to share memories, food, and stories in her honor.
   

• Edward Lester Alexander (silverbelt.com) — Longtime Globe resident Edward “Ed” Alexander, 73, has passed away after a battle with cancer, and a memorial service is set for Saturday, June 13 at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Friends and neighbors remember his decades in Globe, his church leadership, National Guard service, and dedication to local youth and family.
   

• Community members renew tribute to veterans near Bullion Plaza (silverbelt.com) — A small group of volunteers in nearby Miami has rebuilt and refreshed a weather-beaten veterans tribute sign near Bullion Plaza, even as many residents spent Memorial Day at ceremonies in Globe. Funded out of their own pockets, the project creates a more visible salute to service members and complements Miami’s Veterans Memorial Park, offering Globe-Miami travelers a daily reminder of local veterans’ sacrifices.
