• After narrow loss, MHS grad launches second bid for school board (inmaricopa.com) — A 19-year-old Maricopa High School graduate is running again for a seat on the Maricopa Unified School District governing board after losing by just 20 votes in 2024. Nicolas Yendrzeski, now an ASU student, is centering his 2026 campaign on amplifying student voices, improving transparency, and addressing school safety and technology issues that he says directly affect Maricopa families.
   

• Chris Lopez tapped for national legislative leadership program (inmaricopa.com) — State Rep. Chris Lopez, who represents Maricopa at the Arizona Legislature, has been chosen for a prestigious national leadership program at the University of Virginia this July. He’ll join 56 other lawmakers from across the country for intensive training, saying he’s proud to bring Maricopa’s and Arizona’s priorities on public safety, economic strength, and limited government to a national stage.
