1 Boy Killed, Another Injured In El Mirage Shooting, Police Say

El Mirage police are investigating after a shooting left one boy dead and another hurt Monday night.

El MIRAGE, AZ — One boy is dead and another juvenile is recovering after a shooting Monday night in a West Valley neighborhood, police said.

Officers responded to the area of El Mirage and Thunderbird roads shortly after 8 p.m. Monday after multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunshots nearby.

When police arrived, they found a boy suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

As of Tuesday morning, his identity has not been released.

A second boy later turned up at a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, police said Tuesday morning. He is expected to survive, police added.

Police said there is no known immediate threat to the surrounding community and the investigation is ongoing.
