Man Found On Fire Near Sky Harbor Identified By Phoenix Police
Investigators said the man found burning near East Washington Street on June 26 was Calvin Burns, 71.
PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix police have identified the man found on fire near Sky Harbor Airport last month, but investigators still have not determined exactly what happened before he died.
Officers responded just after midnight June 26 to a report near 4400 East Washington Street, where they found the man burning.
According to Sergeant John Buchanan, firefighters extinguished the flames, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police later identified the man as Calvin Burns, 71. Investigators have not determined whether Burns was alive when he was set on fire.
The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office has custody of his remains, and the investigation remains ongoing, according to officials.
