1. 2 hospitalized in Scottsdale shooting, suspect in custody (azfamily.com) — Two people were hospitalized after an early-morning shooting in Scottsdale near Camelback Road and Saddlebag Trail, and police say a suspect is already detained with no ongoing threat to the community. Camelback remains closed between Buckboard Trail and Civic Center Plaza while detectives and crime scene teams investigate what happened.
   

2. Person critically hurt after two-car crash in Old Town Scottsdale (azfamily.com) — A serious two-car crash in Old Town Scottsdale early Sunday critically injured at least one person and shut down northbound Drinkwater Boulevard at Civic Center Plaza. First responders arrived around 2:30 a.m. near Drinkwater and Osborne, and Scottsdale police are still investigating how many people were hurt and what caused the collision.
   

3. Veryon acquires Polaris Aero to integrate aviation safety and maintenance data (mrobusinesstoday.com) — A Scottsdale-based aviation software firm, Polaris Aero, has been acquired by Veryon, which plans to link its safety tools with Veryon's large maintenance-data platform. For Scottsdale residents in aviation or tech, this means the local company's products and jobs remain while gaining access to a much larger customer base and expanded AI-driven safety and maintenance capabilities.
   

4. What's next for Arizona Rep. David Schweikert? (azcentral.com) — Scottsdale voters are losing longtime U.S. Rep. David Schweikert as he leaves Congress after an unsuccessful run for governor, opening up the highly competitive 1st Congressional District that includes north Phoenix, Scottsdale, and nearby suburbs. He reflects on his fiscal-conservative focus, frustration with Washington, and support for Republican successor candidates as Democrats eye the seat in November.
   

5. Road tripping? Here are the Labor Day weekend gas prices in Arizona (azfamily.com) — Drivers in Scottsdale are paying the highest gas prices in Arizona this Labor Day weekend, with an average of $4.73 a gallon compared with the statewide average of $4.53. The report, based on AAA data from Sept. 4, also shows diesel nearing $6 and outlines how Scottsdale compares with other Arizona metros and cheaper states.
