Leaders say shifting reading habits and a software setback hurt finances, and they’re now counting on community donations and volunteers to keep this 53-year-old local resource alive.

David Gowan expands who counts as a first responder so more families can receive state death benefits, retroactive to late 2025. The change now covers roles like correctional officers, National Guard on state duty, and law enforcement pilots killed by criminal actions while on duty, aiming to prevent families from being left without financial support.
• From France to Friday nights (r1s1sports.com) — A standout Kansas University pitcher first earned his U.S. opportunity when Cochise College coaches in Sierra Vista spotted him at a Phoenix showcase and brought him to their program. After two strong seasons there, the French-born right-hander moved on to KU, where he’s now the Friday night starter and a rising MLB draft prospect, inspiring young European players watching his journey.
