• Barrio Restoration opens South Tucson community hub (tucsonspotlight.org) — A long‑vacant South Tucson Budget Inn lot has been reborn as Barrio Restoration’s new community hub and headquarters, dedicated to cleaning and beautifying local streets. Founder David Garcia, South Tucson’s mayor, and other partners describe how volunteer cleanups, mentorship and neighborhood collaboration are tackling litter, supporting residents, and turning the site into a green gathering space open most days of the week.
   

• Tucson City Council approves draft $2M safety plan for SunTran as strike looms (tucsonsentinel.com) — Tucson leaders just approved a $2 million Sun Tran safety plan that could also involve coordination with South Tucson police in nearby hotspot areas. The funding would add part‑time officers, transit ambassadors, cameras and bus‑stop upgrades, even as unionized drivers have authorized a possible strike later this month over safety and working conditions. Local riders could see more outreach‑focused ambassadors instead of private security.
