• Additional juvenile charged in ambush attack at party in Surprise (azfamily.com) — A teen was badly beaten in an ambush attack at a Surprise house party in April, and police have now charged a third juvenile under Arizona’s tougher Preston’s Law assault provisions. Detectives say the large, unsupervised gathering was promoted on social media and are still identifying everyone involved, asking anyone with information or video to contact Surprise Police and reference case 260400178.
   

• Waymo buys Phoenix-area testing grounds (tucson.com) — Waymo has purchased the former Chrysler proving grounds in northwest Surprise for $220 million, securing nearly 5,500 acres to expand autonomous vehicle testing. The massive site near 211th Avenue and Dove Valley Road includes multiple tracks and sits next to land slated for a $3.2 billion BNSF logistics park, positioning Surprise as a growing hub for transportation technology and industry.
