ASU's Counseling Training Center expands services to meet mental health care demand (statepress.com) — Tempe residents and ASU students now have expanded access to affordable mental health care through the Counseling Training Center, which began on the Tempe campus and recently added a new Polytechnic clinic. Supervised graduate counselors provide low-cost psychological assessments, including ADHD and learning disorder evaluations, and semester-long counseling, aiming to reach people before they hit a crisis point.
   

2. Mill Avenue inches toward business recovery after years of construction setbacks, pandemic (abc15.com) — Mill Avenue businesses in downtown Tempe are slowly rebounding after years of streetcar work, a major streetscape project, and the pandemic, but many still need more customers. Local leaders report 17 new businesses coming and a small drop in vacancies, while shops like Lizard Head Trading Company host events such as a Sunday clothing swap to draw residents back.
   

3. 4. Preston Lord murder defendant arrested again while awaiting trial (azfamily.com) — A defendant in the Preston Lord murder case, Talyn Vigil, was arrested again in Tempe on new misdemeanor charges after police say he was drag racing near ASU's campus. A judge has now revoked his driving privileges and set a new bond, while the broader case against multiple defendants continues moving toward trial.
   

5. 5 Arizona coffee shops true caffeine lovers need to try (azbigmedia.com) — Tempe coffee fans get a shout-out as Cartel Roasting Co., founded here in 2008, is highlighted among five must-try Arizona coffee shops ahead of National Coffee Day on Sept. 29.
