• Will Scottsdale follow as a flock of cities cancel cop cams? (eastvalleytribune.com) — Tempe is currently testing Axon's Outpost license-plate reader system while still operating 33 Flock cameras that can track drivers along Scottsdale and Rural roads. The story centers on Scottsdale's heated debate over Flock cameras, privacy concerns, and potential contract changes, but Tempe's own ALPR pilot and Mayor Corey Woods' defense of the technology show how similar surveillance issues are unfolding just next door. 
• Arizona troopers place big rig out of service after noticing load violations (thetrucker.com) — An Arizona Highway Patrol trooper near Tempe recently stopped a big rig on I-10 and found a 60-foot steel beam secured with far too few straps, missing required lights, and driven by a noncompliant driver. Both truck and driver were placed out of service, and troopers are urging anyone hauling oversized loads through the area to double-check safety and lighting requirements.
