1. Tempe Police respond to shooting Monday morning (yourvalley.net) — Tempe Police are investigating a shooting that happened just after 12:30 a.m. Monday near Mill Avenue and 5th Street, where a fight between two groups ended with one person shot and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers quickly located the group with the suspected shooter, detained everyone involved, and made one arrest, and they're now asking anyone with information to contact Tempe Police.
   

2. Some Arizona State University students still waiting for financial aid (abc15.com) — In Tempe, some Arizona State University students still haven't received financial aid for the fall, leaving them unable to buy textbooks, replace laptops, or pay tuition on time. ASU has pushed the payment deadline back to October 25 and says it's working through federal rule changes, urging affected students to call the financial aid help line for assistance.
   

3. ABC15 follows up with Yes to Pets Donation Drive (abc15.com) — A Tempe-based donation drive for Lost Our Home Pet Rescue just wrapped up with record support, gathering about 2,500 pounds of pet food plus supplies from 119 drop-off sites. Organizers say the donations will help struggling local families keep their pets and sustain the shelter through the fall, and they're still seeking volunteers, contributions, and adopters for many animals needing homes.
   

4. How TruWest Approaches Credit Union Cybersecurity (creditunions.com) — Tempe-based TruWest Credit Union is rethinking how it handles cybersecurity, fraud, and compliance under chief legal officer Alysse Medina. She explains why combining legal and information security can speed innovation while still protecting members, and urges other credit unions to involve risk and compliance teams early when adopting new technologies and fintech partners.
   

5. eSummit Goes Year-Round, and Registration Opens for eSummit27 in Tempe (tradingview.com subscription) — Tempe will host the in-person eSummit27 conference at the Omni Tempe at ASU from March 8–10, 2027, bringing global electronics sustainability leaders into town. Organizers are launching a new year-round eSummit360 program and offering discounted early registration, which could draw additional visitors, hotel bookings, and business activity to the city over the coming year.
