• Benton School District approves 'Bible-based instruction' program (thv11.com) — Benton families should know that the Benton School District has approved access for LifeWise Academy, allowing some first-graders to leave campus weekly for off-site Bible-based instruction with parental permission. Supporters cite a Supreme Court ruling and private funding, while a church-state watchdog group warns the district must avoid promoting the program as it expands locally and to nearby Bryant.
   

• Live music, 100 vendors, food, kid zone & more at 52nd annual Old Fashioned Day Oct 10 (mysaline.com) — Mark your calendar for Old Fashioned Day in downtown Benton on Saturday, October 10th, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free festival around the Saline County Courthouse Square will feature live music, 100-plus vendors, food trucks, contests, kids’ activities, and will raise funds for the Benton Senior Activity & Wellness Center and Saline County Council on Aging.
   

• UAM hosts region's largest collegiate timbersports event (magnoliareporter.com) — A Benton student, Caleb VanPelt, helped represent UAM at the region’s largest collegiate timbersports meet, where the Forestry Club finished third overall on its home turf in Monticello. The high-energy Conclave drew 14 schools, more than 250 competitors, and strong support from alumni and industry partners across the Southeast.
