• Our Arklahoma Heritage: A "general physician" from Dyer was signing death certificates a few weeks before the flu took him (todayinfortsmith.com) — Dyer’s early 1900s doctor, Joseph H. Ayers, cared for local farm and railroad families right up until the 1918 flu pandemic claimed his own life. Records show he treated patients in and around Dyer, raised a family there with his wife Gussie, and is buried in Dyer Cemetery, tying his story closely to the town’s roots.
