1. Literacy Council of the Ouachitas' annual Rubber Duck Race set for Saturday Hot Springs Sentinel Record (hotsr.com) — Hundreds of rubber ducks will race down Hot Springs Creek this Saturday at 12:30 p.m. near the Transportation Depot, raising funds for the Literacy Council of the Ouachitas. Locals can buy $10 ducks at several Hot Springs locations, support adult literacy programs across five counties, and even volunteer as tutors or event helpers for future races.
   

2. 25th Corvette Weekend starts today at Hot Springs Convention Center (hotsr.com) — Corvette fans can head to the Hot Springs Convention Center today through Saturday for the 25th Annual Corvette Weekend, featuring models from the rare 1953 C1 to the latest C8. Hosted by the Central Arkansas Corvette Club, the show is open to the public, includes vendors and museum displays, and raises money for Arkansas children’s and veterans’ charities.
   

3. Former Hot Springs man arrested after 2020 double homicide of woman and her child (katv.com) — Hot Springs police say they’ve finally made an arrest in the 2020 killings of Shaquilla Watts and her 5-year-old son after a yearslong investigation, charging former local resident Simon Isaiah Sertuche with capital murder. Investigators linked him to that case and another Garland County homicide through ballistics, social media, and digital evidence, and they’re still asking anyone with information to contact HSPD.
   

4. Study: Hotel supply shortage causing ‘tourism leak' (asianhospitality.com) — Hot Springs is singled out in a new study as having high visitor demand but fewer than 100 hotels, creating a potential ‘tourism leak’ as guests shorten stays or book elsewhere. The report warns that limited rooms can push prices up and send spending outside the city, even as national forecasts show only modest growth in lodging demand.
