Little Rock School Board sets Thursday vote on new attendance zones (arkansasonline.com) — Little Rock families could see high school boundaries change soon, as the School Board votes Thursday on new attendance zones to accommodate the upcoming Little Rock West High School. Six map options, centered on balancing race, income, and transportation, would reshape who attends Central, Southwest, and the new West campus, with particular attention on west Little Rock neighborhoods and long-term enrollment trends.

2. Man charged in October 2023 fatal shooting in Little Rock (arkansasonline.com) — Little Rock police say a man already in the Pulaski County jail now faces a capital murder charge in connection with an October 2023 shooting on Springer Boulevard. Prosecutors allege he killed 32-year-old Kelvin Hawkins, and court records show he has pleaded not guilty as the case moves forward in Little Rock District Court.

UA Little Rock Invites Community to 'Paint the Town Maroon' (ualr.edu) — UA Little Rock is asking Little Rock businesses to "Paint the Town Maroon" by displaying free Trojan banners during the university's centennial year. Local shops and organizations can request banners, show support for students and athletics, and help blanket the city in maroon to celebrate the close ties between the campus and community.

Little Rock brothers win big award for snake love, and bring one along (katv.com) — Two Pulaski County brothers with roots highlighted in Little Rock have become the first Arkansans to win a major International Herpetological Symposium award for their research on snakes. Their passion for reptiles, family support, and outreach through local reptile shows and online groups are inspiring them toward science careers while encouraging Arkansans to better understand these often-feared animals.
