Some Buy Buy Baby Stores May Reopen, CA Locations Uncertain
Company officials are slated to open 11 stores in the Northeast this fall, but it is unknown whether stores will ever reopen in California.

CALIFORNIA — Several Buy Buy Baby retail stores in the Northeast that were shuttered in the Bed Bath & Beyond bankruptcy will reopen as early as this fall, according to news reports, but it's unclear if the retailer's California locations will ever come back.
Baby goods retailer Dream on Me, which bought Buy Buy Baby's intellectual property in June, plans to reopen 11 stores in the Northeast, Avish Dahiya, the company's chief marketing officer, told CNBC. More stores could follow as Dream on Me works to restore the Bed, Bath & Beyond brand, she said.
There were 15 Buy Buy Baby stores remaining in California when the company announced they would shutter last month. At the time, the Elk Grove location was listed as "closed now-open after a week" on Buy Buy Baby's website. The other 14 stores in Chula Vista, Daly City, Encinitas, Fresno, Mission Viejo, Pleasant Hill, Rancho Cucamonga, Redlands, Roseville, San Jose, Temecula, Torrance, West Hills and Yorba Linda remained open at the time. The stores have since closed.

"We definitely see merit in expanding to that number across the U.S.," Dahiya said in the company's first interview since its acquisition. "Similar to what we have done in the Northeast, it will be more cluster-based versus one-off."
