18-Year-Old Charged In Robbery, Shooting Outside East Bay TJ Maxx: DA
A Good Samaritan was shot while trying to stop a robbery, authorities said.
ALAMEDA, CA — An 18-year-old man has been charged with multiple felonies in connection with the shooting of a Good Samaritan during a robbery at a Bay Area shopping center, prosecutors said.
Alameda County prosecutors filed robbery and assault with an unregistered firearm, causing great bodily injury, charges against 18-year-old Khalid Nelson on Tuesday.
Prosecutors say the 18-year-old was armed and tried to rob someone at a TJ Maxx parking lot in Alameda on Saturday, when a Good Samaritan tried to intervene.

That's when Nelson shot the Good Samaritan in the leg, according to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
The helpful individual, who was wounded in the leg, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

"I am grateful that the Good Samaritan received prompt medical treatment and will recover,” District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson said in a statement on Tuesday.
Nelson is due in court on Wednesday for arraignment, authorities said.
