• APD Recovers, Returns Stolen Bikes Thanks to Good Recordkeeping, Community Awareness (alamedapost.com) — Alameda police recently recovered two stolen e-bikes and several other bicycles after victims had recorded their serial numbers, underscoring how good documentation helps get property back. Officers traced the bikes through a database and a tip from a local business, then served a search warrant on Pacific Avenue. APD is urging all riders to photograph their bikes, save receipts, and record serial numbers for future theft reports.

• Youth Demand Alameda County Ban Pepper Spray (blogspot.com) — Youth organizers with Urban Peace Movement are pressuring Alameda County supervisors to ban pepper spray and all chemical agents in juvenile detention, arguing they cause serious physical and psychological harm to detained kids. At an August protest outside the county administration building, they staged a street play and shared testimonies, while the Probation Department defended limited last-resort use and highlighted a sharp drop in spray incidents. The department plans to switch to a different spray, which organizers still oppose.
