Suspect In East Bay Bank Robberies Arrested

OAKLAND, CA — A suspect has been arrested in connection with two bank robberies in Oakland this month, police said.

Police say the man, an Oakland resident, walked into a bank around 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, and robbed it at knifepoint.

The man then robbed the bank again on Wednesday, leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash, the Oakland Police Department said.

Investigators identified the suspects "based on witness statements and surveillance video and physical evidence," police said, adding that an Alameda County Judge issued a no-bail warrant on Thursday.

The suspect was located by Oakland Police Robbery Investigators and arrested on suspicion of robbery, false imprisonment, and violation of probation, authorities said.

The case remains active, police said. The Oakland Police Department asked that anyone with more information on the robberies contact the agency at 510-238-3326.
