• Property owners can apply for earthquake retrofit grant funding under state initiative (smmirror.com) — Albany apartment owners with 5–10 units can now apply for a state grant that covers up to 70% of eligible earthquake retrofit costs, but only until September 30, 2026. Buildings must be older soft-story wood-frame structures under a mandatory local retrofit notice. Owners can confirm eligibility and register online through the California Residential Mitigation Program.
