• John Muir High School to Mark Centennial With Alumni Honors, Student Performances (coloradoboulevard.net) — Altadena families connected to John Muir High School are invited to a Nov. 1 centennial celebration in Pasadena, honoring the school's legacy in Pasadena, Altadena and beyond. The event will feature alumni honors, student performances, a homecoming picnic, and the launch of a Legacy Fund supporting scholarships and emergency aid, especially for community members affected by the Eaton Fire. 
• Lawmakers Reach Wildfire Deal That Sidelines Most of Newsom's Key Proposals (hsjchronicle.com) — State lawmakers have struck a wildfire deal shaped in part by survivors of the Eaton Fire that killed 19 people in Altadena, keeping financial responsibility largely on utilities instead of easing their costs. The compromise bill, SB 492, creates a faster payout system for fire victims, bans private equity from wildfire claims, and blocks caps on pain-and-suffering damages while leaving broader utility cost reforms for future debate.
