Standoff Near Antioch Schools Ends with Rooftop Arrest of Armed Suspect (crimevoice.com) — An armed standoff on Catanzaro Way near three Antioch schools ended safely last week when police negotiators persuaded a 40-year-old Antioch man to surrender on a rooftop. No students or staff at Carmen Dragon Elementary, Black Diamond Middle, or Deer Valley High were affected, but nearby residents were told to shelter in place while tactical officers moved in to make the arrest.

Antioch Council appoints former Mayor Pro Tem to Police Oversight Commission, five to new General Plan Advisory Committee (antiochherald.com) — Antioch’s City Council has filled key seats on the new General Plan Advisory Committee and the Police Oversight Commission, installing local business, nonprofit, and community leaders. These appointees will help guide long-term land-use decisions and provide independent oversight of the Antioch Police Department, shaping how the city grows and how policing is reviewed.

3. County District Attorney's Office issues Annual Report (thepress.net) — Contra Costa County’s District Attorney is highlighting progress that directly affects Antioch, including guilty pleas in all six corruption and bribery cases involving Antioch and Pittsburg police officers. The annual report also details conviction rates, victim services, restorative justice programs, and a new Pittsburg branch office meant to better serve East County residents, including those in Antioch.

Heritage beats Freedom boys volleyball in five-set BVAL thriller (thepress.net) — Heritage High’s boys volleyball team, which recently swept Antioch in league play, just pulled out a five-set home thriller over Freedom to stay in the Bay Valley Athletic League race. Coach Janet Hannigan is pushing the Patriots to sharpen their consistency and “tone setting” before they host title-contender Deer Valley on April 22 at 6:30 p.m.

5. Disabled train causes second major BART delay in less than a week (eastbaytimes.com) — BART riders traveling on the Antioch–San Francisco Airport Yellow Line faced another major delay Wednesday morning after a train broke down in San Francisco, forcing single-tracking and service adjustments. All stations stayed open and riders could transfer lines, but residual delays lingered as crews cleared the disabled train and restored normal service.
