Fiery Rollover Crash Kills 4, Injures 2 In Inland Empire

Five people were ejected from the vehicle during the crash, authorities said.

WRIGHTWOOD, CA — Four people were killed and two were injured in a rollover crash early Friday morning on State Route 2 near Wrightwood, authorities said.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. between Big Pines and Wrightwood near Flume Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol incident log.

A 2016 Hyundai Veloster transporting six passengers, all from Wrightwood, was traveling east when the vehicle veered off the road. The vehicle overturned, falling down an embankment, according to the CHP.

Five people were ejected from the vehicle. Four were pronounced dead at the scene, and two were transported to a hospital in critical condition, according to the CHP.

A preliminary investigation indicated none of the occupants appeared to have been wearing seat belts, authorities said.

The CHP said alcohol was likely a factor in the crash, the LA Times reported.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
