Man Who Disappeared On Camping Trip With Fiancée Found Dead: Authorities

The 47-year-old's fiancée awoke to find he was gone, according to authorities.

FAWNSKIN, CA — A man who went missing earlier this week on a camping trip with his fiancée near Big Bear Lake has been found dead, according to authorities.

Brian Schofield, 47, was reported missing around 9 a.m. Monday after he disappeared while camping with his fiancée at Yellow Post Campsite No. 33 in Fawnskin, authorities said.

Before he disappeared, he was last seen at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the campsite, but his fiancée awoke to find he was gone, according to the Big Bear Sheriff Station of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Schofield was discovered dead around 5:30 p.m. Monday near the campsite, authorities said, adding a preliminary investigation revealed no signs of foul play.
