RivCo Man Suspected Of Fatal Stabbing During Confrontation Arrested: Sheriff

MEAD VALLEY, CA — A 54-year-old Moreno Valley man suspected of fatally stabbing a Mead Valley resident during a confrontation was arrested Friday on suspicion of murder, authorities said.

Ruben Altamirano Estrada was booked into the Robert Presley Jail early morning Friday following a Riverside County Sheriff's Department investigation.

Estrada is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

According to Sgt. Chad Thompson with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the alleged attack happened just before 7 p.m. on Thursday at a property in the 21000 block of Elmwood Street in Mead Valley.

Thompson said patrol deputies were called to the location to investigate reports of an assault and discovered the victim, whose identity was not immediately released, "on the ground, suffering from injuries consistent with stab wounds."

Paramedics tried resuscitative measures, but the man died at the scene.

Homicide detectives took over the investigation and identified Estrada as the alleged perpetrator within a few hours.

The suspect, who was not injured, was arrested without incident on Elmwood, then booked into the downtown Riverside jail.

A possible motive was not provided, and background information on Estrada was unavailable.
