• New map shows chances of wildfire survival, much of Central Valley at undue risk (yourcentralvalley.com) — Bass Lake is identified as one of several Madera County foothill communities with too few evacuation routes to safely handle a fast-moving wildfire, according to a new UC study. Researchers say communities like Bass Lake fall below a six-road “survival” threshold and urge investments in better egress, early warning systems, and designated refuge areas to reduce risk.
