• Bay Area Air District invests $40 million in Benicia (thereporter.com) — Benicia is set to receive a major $40 million boost from the Bay Area Air District, with $30 million going to city projects and $10 million to Benicia Unified schools. The money will fund cleaner energy in public buildings, electric police and fire vehicles, hundreds of new trees, and healthier, more efficient classrooms—especially important as the city transitions away from the recently closed Valero refinery.

City leaders and residents are condemning the acts as attacks on Benicia's inclusive values, while officials emphasize using camera technology to identify suspects and pledge to hold anyone damaging local art or memorials accountable.
