• The Kurt Caselli Foundation And Big Bear MX Grand Prix Announce The Kurt Caselli Golf Classic (cyclenews.com) — A new charity golf tournament is coming to Bear Mountain Golf Course in Big Bear Lake on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, benefiting The Kurt Caselli Foundation’s off-road safety work. Golfers get 18 holes, lunch, contests, and rare VIP access to ride the 2026 Big Bear MX Grand Prix course right after the round. Registration is limited to 60 players, with options for individuals and foursomes.
   

• Bald eagles Jackie and Shadow need $10 million (popsci.com subscription) — Big Bear Lake’s famous bald eagles Jackie and Shadow are at the center of a $10 million effort to protect the last undeveloped northern shoreline near their nest. Friends of Big Bear Valley and partners are racing to buy the Moon Camp property to safeguard habitat and wildlife. Locals can also honor late conservation leader Sandy Steers at a June 13 memorial in Veterans Park.
