• Book Fest Returns to Buena Vista Library (outlooknewspapers.com) — Burbank readers can mark their calendars for Saturday, Oct. 3, when the Burbank Public Library hosts the free Burbank Book Festival at Buena Vista Branch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Expect more than 80 authors, panels, signings, vendors, and the debut of the newly designed Bookmobile, all aimed at celebrating storytelling and strengthening connections across Burbank’s literary community.
   

• Pasadena Officers Honored for Response Involving Burbank Police K-9 Spike (coloradoboulevard.net) — Burbank’s police community recently gathered at the Burbank Marriott Airport as the Burbank Police Foundation honored K-9 Spike and several Pasadena officers for a life-risking incident involving the Burbank police dog. The luncheon highlighted cooperation between agencies, celebrated local officers and volunteers, and showcased how community donations fund protective vests that keep police K-9s safer on the job.
   

• ‘Drag Race' Star Gottmik Arrested for DUI (justjared.com) — Burbank residents may notice extra attention on a recent DUI crash after police say “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star Gottmik was arrested here on September 16 following a collision involving a Porsche and several parked cars. Officers reported signs of alcohol intoxication before making the arrest; no broader local safety changes or injuries are detailed in the report.
