• American Cancer Society 'Relay For Life' of North County San Diego, Saturday (northcountydailystar.com) — North County residents are invited to join Relay For Life this Saturday at the Army and Navy Academy on Carlsbad Boulevard, supporting cancer patients and honoring survivors. The overnight fundraiser aims to raise $250,000 for American Cancer Society programs, with family activities, live music, and a luminaria walk, and offers options to form a team, drop in, or donate online.
   

• Man Arrested after Suspicious Devices Found in Carlsbad (northcountydailystar.com) — Carlsbad police say three fake bomb-like devices found Thursday on El Camino Real prompted evacuations and a road closure while the Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit investigated and determined they were not explosive. A San Marcos man was arrested on suspicion of placing facsimile bombs and making a weapon-of-mass-destruction threat, and residents with information are urged to contact Carlsbad police.
   

• Renters in nine Southern California cities are still seeing cost hikes while most others enjoy drops (nypost.com) — Carlsbad is one of just nine Southern California cities where median asking rents are still climbing while most nearby markets see relief. New Zumper data show one- and two-bedroom units in these holdout cities posting year-over-year increases, underscoring that local renters here remain under pressure even as the broader region cools.
