Man Dies Following Fight In East Bay: Police

Officers responded to a fight in progress at a business near the 300 block of Winton Avenue in Hayward, police said.

HAYWARD, CA — Police in Hayward are investigating the apparent beating death of a man, the department said Monday.

On Saturday just before midnight, officers responded to a fight in progress at a business near the 300 block of Winton Avenue in Hayward.

Officers arrived and found a 42-year-old man unconscious and not breathing, with trauma to his head. A witness was performing CPR on the victim when officers arrived and first responders took over and the man was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Police have no suspects in custody in this case and are investigating, the department said.
