• This weekend the Renaissance and Fantasy Faire returns to Chico (theorion.com) — Chico-area residents can dive into a free, family-friendly Renaissance and Fantasy Faire this Saturday, Sept. 12, at Patrick Ranch Museum in nearby Durham, with hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Expect costume contests, live performances, over 100 local vendors, free crafts via Chico Creative Reuse, ASL-interpreted shows, and even bike valet with perks for early cyclists. 
• Help us Choose Next Year's Book in Common (csuchico.edu) — Chico State and Butte College are inviting Chico-area residents to help choose the 2027–28 Book in Common, a shared read for students, faculty, staff, and the wider North State community. You can submit book suggestions online and join future discussions, building on this year's selection, "The AI Con," which will anchor events throughout the 2026–27 academic year.
