• Habitat for Humanity accepting applications for six more homes on Sayonara Drive (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Six new affordable homes on Sayonara Drive in Citrus Heights are now accepting applications as part of a major Habitat for Humanity partnership with the city. Local working families who meet income guidelines must first attend a virtual orientation before receiving an application, with the current window running through mid-October and more phases of homes still to come.
   

• Meet Daniel Kehrer, local high school grad turned civil engineer (citrusheightssentinel.com) — A Mesa Verde High School graduate now serving as a senior civil engineer for the City of Citrus Heights helped secure a 15% flood insurance discount for many local residents through FEMA's Community Rating System. Daniel Kehrer's work on floodplain management, safety projects, and major grant applications is shaping infrastructure improvements across the same neighborhoods where he grew up.
   

• Citrus Heights Police pursue armed subject, causing temporary road closure (citrusheightssentinel.com) — An armed man walking in the middle of Auburn Boulevard near Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights was safely detained Thursday after police briefly closed westbound lanes during a tense foot pursuit. Officers repeatedly warned him to drop a sharp object he held to his neck, and no injuries or shots fired were reported before traffic fully reopened.
