• Construction contract approved for Citrus Heights low cost spay neuter clinic (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Citrus Heights is moving ahead with converting the former Citrus Heights Preschool site on Old Auburn Road into a low-cost spay and neuter clinic for cats, after the City Council approved a $457,000 construction contract. FieldHaven Feline Center is already operating temporarily next door and plans to start surgeries by late September, with the second building later slated for an Animal Control Services center.
   

• A century of service: Citrus Heights WWII vet celebrates 100th birthday (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Citrus Heights is celebrating WWII veteran Emil Giusti, who just marked his 100th birthday on the Twin Oaks Avenue property where he grew up. Family, friends, and service groups honored his decades of military, church, and community service, while he continues to live semi-independently on Sycamore Drive, representing a rare surviving member of the World War II generation.
