• Citrus Heights City Manager praises public safety priorities, reserve levels, within budget (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Citrus Heights' city manager is touting a balanced 2026–27 budget that boosts reserves to cover about eight-and-a-half months of expenses while dedicating most General Fund spending to police services and millions to street and infrastructure projects. At the same time, residents and a council candidate are questioning the recent dissolution of the Police Department's dedicated traffic unit, prompting plans for an on-call investigator and a new Major Accident Investigations Team.
   

• CHWD Appoints Acting General Manager (citrusheightsmessenger.com) — Citrus Heights Water District has appointed longtime engineer Melissa "Missy" Pieri as acting general manager, overseeing daily operations and water service for about 70,000 customers in Citrus Heights and nearby communities. Pieri, a key leader behind the District's Project 2030 main replacement effort, steps in as former general manager Hilary Straus retires after more than two decades serving the local community.
   

• New Law Requires Sacramento Cities, County to Team Up on Homelessness (californiacitynews.org) — Citrus Heights will be required to join Sacramento County and nearby cities in a new joint powers authority to coordinate housing and homelessness policy by 2028 under SB 802, just signed by the Governor. The law, opposed by county supervisors but backed by supporters seeking less fragmentation, lets each jurisdiction keep control of its own funds while sharing regional decision-making.
