1. Mt. Diablo High Halts Varsity Football Season Amid Player Shortage: Report (patch.com) — Families in Concord are grappling with Mt. Diablo High School's decision to end its varsity football season early because there aren't enough substitute players to keep athletes safe in their proper positions. District leaders say the move, which follows a major field repair donation last year, also disrupts cheerleaders, the band, and opposing teams that had games scheduled in Concord.
   

2. U.S. Navy Approves Key Financial Agreement For Concord Naval Weapons Station Redevelopment (claycord.com) — Redevelopment of the former Concord Naval Weapons Station just cleared a major hurdle, with the U.S. Navy approving key financial terms for transferring more than 2,400 acres. Brookfield and the City of Concord will now craft a detailed Specific Plan, with community input expected in early 2027. The project envisions new housing, commercial space, parks, and open space for Concord residents.
   

3. Immigration advocates raise concerns after reported arrests at Concord Home Depot (ktvu.com) — Day laborers at the Home Depot on Meridian Park Boulevard in Concord reported seeing several workers taken away by unidentified agents, prompting local immigration advocates to mobilize. While ICE, Customs and Border Protection, and Concord police deny involvement, community groups are trying to identify those allegedly detained and are stationing volunteers nearby to monitor and document any further activity.
   

4. Concord barber becomes bluesman by night (nbcbayarea.com) — A Concord barber is earning a following as a blues guitarist, running V.I.P. Barbershop by day and performing as Jr. De Ville by night. His family's multi-generational barbering roots in Concord and his passion for blues music shape both the shop's vibe and his performances around the Bay Area.
   

5. UPDATE: Motorcyclist Killed After Being Ejected, Struck By Vehicle On Highway 4 In Concord (claycord.com) — A motorcyclist was killed Monday afternoon in a crash on westbound Highway 4 in Concord, just east of Port Chicago Highway. Investigators say he collided with a Volkswagen Jetta, was ejected, and then struck by a Toyota Tundra. He died at the scene despite wearing a helmet, and CHP is asking witnesses to contact its Contra Costa office.
