• Coronado Zumba instructors celebrate 25th anniversary with founder (coronadotimes.com) — Coronado Zumba instructors Sue Allen Villalva and Marg Stark just celebrated Zumba's 25th anniversary with founder Beto Perez and are channeling that energy back into their local classes. Residents can join their sessions at the Spreckels Center and Coronado Karate, where the focus is as much on friendship and community as on fitness.
   

• Coronado residents contract West Nile virus (thecoronadonews.com) — Coronado residents are being warned after three local West Nile virus cases and multiple infected mosquito batches were found across the island, prompting early-morning pesticide spraying on Sept. 25 and 26 from 2nd Street to Ocean Boulevard and nearby streets. County officials say the treatment is safe for people and pets, and urge residents to dump standing water and use repellents to reduce mosquito breeding and bites.
   

• Why do they leave San Diego? (sandiegoreader.com) — Several families share how Coronado and greater San Diego's high housing costs, long commutes, and sometimes isolating social scene have pushed them to move away or juggle life between here, Tijuana, and other cities. One mother describes relocating her family back to Coronado so her daughter can attend local schools, even while planning a future home in Tijuana to escape perpetual renting and stretch their budget.
